[sumo-user] GUI connection without using traci.init()

Hello, my version info:

LibSUMO/TraCI VERSION 21
'SUMO 79d8ebc13'

Ubuntu 18.04.6 LTS

So far I have been using traci.init(9999) and connecting to a "sumo-gui -c [config_file]" starting SUMO in a different terminal. Is there any other way to do this in TraCI so that I don't have to use init() function?

Maybe something that can be used by libsumo too, since init() isn't part of libsumo?
