Re: [sumo-user] car-following calibration

Hello,
the calibrator is used to calibrating traffic flow of a base demand scenario by using local flow measurements. As such it is unsuited to calibrating a car-following model. Also, the calibrator is working on a rather 'macroscopic' level. Because it is only configured with a flow value, the insertion patterns it uses (vehicle time gaps) may not match reality.

Instead, you should build a demand scenario that matches with a known traffic flow at one location, ideally on a single-vehicle basis.
Then calibrate your model so that the downstream flow best matches the real-world observations at a second measurement location.

regards,
Jakob

Hi,

I have a question.  I want to calibrate the car-following model based on real world data.  But I don’t know which method I should use? Should I use the Calibrator fist and then change different parameters value to find the best value? Or without Calibrator to seek for the parameters’ best value? Thank you very much!

Best regards,

Wenxuan Wang
