You can add vehicles with an empty string as route ID. This will insert it at a (basically) random position and you can control it with moveToXY afterwards.

Can I add vehicles using traci if i only know depart position? If i dont have a route_id, as in the route its supposed to take. I only have where its departing from.

Is route_id with routes defined mandatory to add vehicles into network?
