Re: [sumo-user] Abstract Vehicle Classes: Impaired Mobility

Thank you for the suggestion. I've added it to the issues list (https://github.com/eclipse/sumo/issues/4411)

2018-08-13 15:24 GMT+02:00 Albiston, Gregory 2012 (PGR) <gregory.albiston2012@xxxxxxxxxxxx>:

Hello,

The definition of vehicles requires selecting one of the predefined "abstract vehicle classes".

http://sumo.dlr.de/wiki/Definition_of_Vehicles,_Vehicle_Types,_and_Routes#Abstract_Vehicle_Class

This influences vehicle access to edges and includes pedestrians walking on pavements.

There isn't a class in the list for those people with impaired mobility who use wheelchairs or mobility scooters etc.

These individuals have distinct access needs to general pedestrians and may not be able to follow a pedestrian route e.g. steep incline or stairs.

There are currently two custom classes available for user defined classes so there is a mechanism to compensate but users may have use of these and this is fairly distinct case. There is also the general point about considering all people in society and their varying needs.

Just making the suggestion that this may want to be considered the next time the list of classes is revised.

Thanks,

Greg
