[science-pmc] SLURM

(not sure if this is a topic that should continue on the science-pmc thread?)

That is interesting, Torkild.

At iSencia, we have an all Java partial DRMAA implementation for SLURM job submission, built for Soleil.
It's based on launching cmdline SLURM commands and parsing the outputs.
It certainly needs more work to be generally applicable I think.
For the moment it's used by Synchrotron Soleil on their SLURM-managed grid.

My goal would be to maintain that as a source project in Triquetrum (contrary to the previous 2 CQs that would be treated as 3rd-party deps) and to improve it. So if you would have reusable Java code for submitting&monitoring SLURM jobs, that's indeed very interesting!

cheers

Well done Jonah :-D

Interesting that you should mention SLURM, Erwin. The project I’m doing for SINTEF Ocean these days also involve SLURM (and TORQUE).

Best regards,
Torkild

Argh! Yes, it's January monthly meeting, not the January project meeting. I guess we'll have this problem every year :-(.

By the way, it would seem I was a bit confused about the meeting before : I thought it was about discussing the project January!

But as the agenda seems to be open for other topics, I guess the title is just about the month ;-)

There's one more: 12474.

Both are for Triquetrum, to migrate DRMAA API and implementations I did in the past for DAWN towards official Eclipse-approved modules.
I'll also propose to add them to Orbit.

@Greg : Would it be the goal to first announce this on the science-pmc list, before doing the CQ request?

I wouldn't have thought so, unless there is some controversy about it. Otherwise someone from the PMC should just approve it.

On that note, I didn't see an email about this on the science-pmc mailing list. Did anyone else see it?

Jan 12 @ 10am EST appears to be the consensus. Anyone who can't make it may like to suggest an alternate time and we can see if it works any better.

Hi,

I'd like to try to set up a PMC meeting for January. I've picked some times that are more amenable to all the different timezones, so hopefully we'll get a reasonable number of participants. Please try to complete the poll [1] by Friday.

Thanks,
Greg
