Runtime PMCers,
I have not heard anything in reply to the ECF request to have it's 2.1
release. Is there any further word from the PMC about our 2.1 release?
We would like to have it as soon as possible given the process
requirements.
Thanksinadvance,
Scott

Greetings Runtime PMCers,
the Eclipse Communication Framework (ECF) has recently completed it's
move from being a technology project to being a runtime project...see
https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=246012 for the gory
details.
We would like to celebrate with a minor release (2.1) prior to ESE
2008. Our last non-service release was ECF 2.0.0, which was for
Ganymede.
We have two new APIs: a synchronization API based upon the real-time
shared editing work, and a storage API based upon the Equinox secure
preferences mechanisms added in Equinox Ganymede. We also have a fair
number of bug fixes, UI enhancements, improvements to discovery and
remote services, as well as documentation improvements. We are
working on the N&N and of course other review materials.
So we would like approval for our 2.1 release as a runtime project.
Assuming this can go ahead, we'll obviously then schedule the
appropriate review with the EF as dictated by the dev process.
Thanks,
Scott
