[riena-dev] Re: Riena 1.1.0.M5 available

Actually I noticed that the exception that we see on the Carbon platform for MasterDetail also happens on Windows.

Hi everyone,
Riena 1.1.0.M5 is available. We have quit a number of new features that
we are note in New and Noteworthy over here
http://wiki.eclipse.org/Riena_New_And_Noteworthy#1.1.0.M5.
Of course the milestone is built with Eclipse SDK 3.5M5 and is now
available also for Mac Cocoa (not only for Mac Carbon).
While it has lot of good and new stuff we noticed a few flaw and
problems in this milestone:
- MasterDetail Widget and Ridget is only a prototyp (not a finished
implementation) and produces some exceptions on the Mac platform (it
runs and does everything but you see some exceptions in the console)
- Mac Cocoa platform is new and seems to create more exceptions than the
Carbon platform (at least in Riena)
- Still despite all exceptions you might see a warning dialog but the
example app continues to run.
- These exceptions do not happen on the Windows platform
We will of course address these issues in M6, but we wanted to get this
milestone out. So needless to say that all people that are doing
projects or use Riena in production stick with 1.0.0 and only use
1.1.0.M5 to learn and experiment with new features in 1.1.0.M5.
You can use Riena Targetplatform 1.1.0.M5 with Eclipse 3.4. or Eclipse
3.5.x. One restriction from the Eclipse IDE itself is that Eclipse IDE
Mac Carbon only runs with a Target Platform Mac Carbon and the same is
true for Mac Cocoa. So you cannot run a Cocoa Target from a Carbon IDE
and vica versa, but that is a restriction from SWT.

Upload was these morning, so the mirrors are still syncing the zip files
and download might be slow this morning.
If you find additional problems dont hesitate to write back, open a
bugzilla. Positive or negative feedback about the new stuff is welcomed.
