[ptp-dev] New email address/GIT setup
|
As a result of my retirement from IBM I am trying to set up my Eclipse
accounts so I can participate as an individual committer in 2014. I've
run into a bit of difficulty and confusion with GIT setup.
My old email address was dwootton@xxxxxxxxxx and my new email address is
drwootton@xxxxxxxxxx. I have updated my Eclipse portal information to
use the new email address.
I was able to import PTP code into a workspace but I had to use the URL
ssh://dwootton@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx:29418/ptp/org.eclipse.ptp. I found that I
didn't need to enter my password in the import dialog, presumably
because I have uploaded a public ssh key.
If I tried using the URL
ssh://drwootton@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx:29418/ptp/org.eclipse.ptp then I get an
error message telling me 'Auth fail: invalid password or missing SSH
key'. I'm doing this from the same Linux userid that works with the
first URL.
I'm guessing this is because I don't have a 'drwootton' git userid. If I
try to login when prompted at the URL
https://git.eclipse.org/r/#/settings/http-password using either
'drwootton' or 'drwootton@xxxxxxxxxx' I get an error 'Cannot assign user
name'.
I'm concerned about this because I seem to have two identities Eclipse
knows about, dwootton and drwootton, and that at some time in the future
something is going to go wrong with my dwootton id like an expired
password or I'm going to forget about it.
A second problem is that I cannot log on when prompted at
https://git.eclipse.org/r/#/settings/http-password using either dwootton
or dwootton@xxxxxxxxxx. I've apparently forgotten whatever password is
associated with that URL and can't find any way to reset it. (My Eclipse
portal password doesn't work here either)
