[ptp-dev] Change anonymous git checkout

Is there a simple operation I can perform to change my read only 
anonymous git checkout to use my committer access and will the operation 
still work if I have changes in my workspace? Or, would it be simpler to 
check everyone out into a clean workspace and just move my changes over?
