That is odd. I got 4 messages since I activated it (at 2:48pm (2x), 2:49pm and 3:10pm).
Are others getting the messages?

Hi,

I reactivated the ptp commit messages. For now they go to ptp-cvs-commit. I will change it when the new list is available.

By default the commit mail only contains the number of lines modified per file not a full diff (see last two messages on ptp-cvs-commit for examples) . Would you prefer the full diff or is the default format sufficient for everyone?

if I understood Greg correctly, he is asking for the mailing-list to renamed to reflect that GIT isn't used anymore (I assume to ptp-commit or ptp-commits).
Should I go ahead and make git send the commit log to ptp-git-commit until the new list is in place?

Sorry. Somehow the permissions were wrong after I converted it the first time. I think I solved the issue and are currently redoing the conversion. The conversion will run for about an hour. So it will be a bit more until I have verified everything and can upload it.

A snapshot of the CVS has now been taken. Any changes from now on will not be reflected in the Git repository. I've asked webmaster to make the CVS read-only (apart from doc), but I'm not sure how long this will take.

It looks like we're ready to move to GIT. I suggest we transition this coming Wednesday (11/7). I know this is close to SC, but if we don't do it now then it will be the end of November before things settle down again.

I will make the CVS repo read-only on Wednesday morning, then create another copy that Roland can use to upload. Roland, do you know how to upload to
git.eclipse.org, or do I need to do it?

The CVS repo will remain read-only (and will still be available for the SC tutorial). It will eventually be archived.

It's not difficult to switch from CVS to Git:

        1. Remove all the CVS plugins from your workspace.
        2. Use the 'Git>Projects from Git' import wizard.
        3. Click on Clone... and enter the repository URI:

        ssh://
        userid@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx/gitroot/ptp/org.eclipse.ptp.git

        4. Use your committer userid and password.
        5. Click Next> to choose the branches you want to clone (usually ptp_5_0 and HEAD).
        6. Click Next> to choose where you want the repository located locally. It can be anywhere.
        7. Click Finish. The repository should be downloaded.
        8. Once the repository has downloaded you should see it in the list. Select it.
        9. Click Next> then Next> again and you should see a list of all the projects.
        10. Select the ones you want (usually all) and click Finish.

Repeat steps 2-10 to import another repository (e.g. photran). The photran URI is
        ssh://userid@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx/gitroot/ptp/org.eclipse.photran.git
