Re: [ptp-dev] post 2.1 plans

I was thinking of a 2.1.1 release in December, then a 2.1.2 around Feb. We might want to also think about the next major release (2.2 or 3.0?) coinciding with Galileo in July next year.

Hi everyone,

Hopefully you're not partying too hard at SC08 :-P

Mike and I have some major RDT fixes that we are checking in soon. Specifically, I've got some fixes to simplify the remote project wizard, and Mike has found a way to "fix" the editor conflict issue.

This brings up the question of what we want to do as far as release planning now that 2.1 is out the door. I would like to see these fixes go into a 2.1.1, which is a release I assume we all intend to have, but we need to decide on the details of that.

I know as well that we have some major refactoring coming up to extract the RSE dependencies out of the RDT core and UI plugins, but that is more likely going to happen in December sometime. I think there definitely should be some kind of release in February coinciding with the GA of CDT 5.0.2, so maybe it should coincide with that. I know the CELL folks wanted to consume RDT in time for March and this is a prerequisite for that, but I'm not sure how much lead time they require for this.

What are everyone's thoughts?
