Re: [ptp-dev] remote services
|
Great ... I am almost certain this is a must-have for tightly controlled
computing environment such as Jaguar system. If there are things I could
help to speed up the development, please let me know, I will do what I
can do.
Thanks

Hi Feiyi,
Currently the remote services do not support tunneling the proxy
protocol across an ssh connection. That is the next thing on my list, so
I'll let you know when it is available.

Greg

Hi, Greg -
Is current RSE allows me to lauch proxy without going through the
manual process. While in the process of implementing the proxy, I've
found that our Jaguar system firewall basically blocks the outgoing
connection - as Eclipse listening port changes every time, it is not
even possible for me to ask them to open a particular port for me. So,
RSE seems my own way forward ... any further information on how to use
it?
Thanks

I've just committed the changes to hook up PTP with the new remote
abstraction layer. From this point on, you will need to have the
org.eclipse.ptp.remote plugin in your workspace when working on PTP.
Note that there are some problems with using RSE at the moment. I
believe these are RSE problems, and have a bug open with them on the
issue (#194802
if anyone is interested). I'll let you know when it gets resolved.
If you want to try RSE, please let me know and I'll fill you in on
the details.

Greg
