Please open a bug.

It didn't seem to get set for me.
I opened the runtime perspective *before* launching a parallel job.
Then I opened the preferences (to set the PLDT's MPI preferences before
creating an MPI project), and accidentally clicked on the PTP root
preference page, seeing the problem.

But I think even after actually running a parallel job (in runtime
perspective) they were still unset in the preference pages.

My understanding is that the PTP preferences (both runtime and debug)
are discovered and set the first time the proxy is started, which
happens when either the runtime or debug perspectives are selected.
If you open the PTP preferences before this then the preferences
values won't be set.
