Re: [platform-swt-dev] SWT Apps for Windows CE with Source Codefor Testing? (Follow up)
|
I know some people used SWT to develop real wince apps (see the bugzilla),
but unfortunately I don't know where they are.
That said, we have not worked very much in our wince port in past few
years (we are still on wince 3.0). I believe eRCP/eSWT is much more active
in the embed space than we are. See http://eclipse.org/ercp/

Thanks, Carolyn.
The three snippets are very similar to Eclipse Corner article 'Small cup
of SWT,' and in fact the article has more. I'm looking for something
beyond that--a real demo app like you have in SWT Examples for desktop
OSes, ex., Paint Example, Graphics Example, etc.
The SWT FAQ still mentions that SWT for Win CE is an "experimental version
of SWT." Is this still the case? The question is raised for determining
the platform development strategy of SWT C++. I'm trying to determine if
eSWT is the recommended SWT platform for Windows Mobile and if resources
for SWT C++ should be directed there instead. Any insights you can give
are appreciated.

Hi there.
I don't know the answer to your questions about SWT WinCE usage or open
source SWT WinCE apps, but if you are just getting started with WinCE,
perhaps these 2 FAQ entries might help you:
http://www.eclipse.org/swt/faq.php#pocketpcstart
http://www.eclipse.org/swt/faq.php#pocketpclibrary
Also, there are a few example SWT snippets geared towards WinCE:
http://www.eclipse.org/swt/snippets/#pocketpc
Hope this helps.

Please respond to "Eclipse Platform SWT component developers list."
One more try: Are there any sample or open source SWT apps for Win CE? I'm
not finding any.
This leads to the question: Is SWT for Win CE being used much? Or, has the
focus mainly switched to eSWT for Win CE now?
