Grant,
Thanks for the help. I was able to get eclipse to
run on Solaris 9-x86 starting from the 2.1.1 SDK release for solaris-motif and
using the SWT-Howto instructions. However, when I run it, many of
the sub menus are blank. For example, I see "File" in the primary
menu. Clicking on it pops up the proper menu. But Clicking on "New"
in this menu pops up a blank menu that just has separators. Selecting one of the
"blank" items brings up the proper dialog, so the functionality is all there ,
just not all the labels. If you have any ideas, I'm happy to dig around for the
answer, but I just don't know enough to know where to start digging. If
this should go to another person/group/list, please point me there. I'm
begining to think I should have installed Linux and not Sol
x-86!
Thanks again for the help.
Sanjay

Sanjay,
The instructions in the HowTo assume that you've
downloaded a regular build (eg.- ftp://download.eclipse.org/R-2.1.1-200306271545/eclipse-SDK-2.1.1-solaris-motif.zip),
not a source build.

Subject: [platform-swt-dev]
building SWT libs and launcher on
Solaris-x86 |
Hi,
I've been looking for source and instructions on
building eclipse for a non-supported platform, Solaris-x86. I found a
few posts in your archives that seemed relevant and I found a file called
SWT-Howto that seemed to spell out everything I needed to do.
However, the source I downloaded [source build (source in zip) for
2.1.1] does not seem to contain the same source files as listed in the
Howto (e.g. couldn't find any launchersrc.zip). Any pointers would be
appreciated and I apologize in advance if this a
FAQ.
Sanjay
