Re: [ProbableSpam] [platform-swt-dev] JFace and SWT organizational question
|
Ed,
We have no plans to bundle JFace with SWT or to support JFace as a
separate component from the Eclipse UI.
The only other plugin dependency JFace has is on org.eclipse.core.runtime,
but this is really just for certain 'utility' classes like
IProgressMonitor and IStatus. We are looking at cleaning this up as part
of the RCP effort.
Regards,
Nick

Subject: [ProbableSpam] [platform-swt-dev] JFace and SWT
organizational question
Would it make sense to bundle JFace more tighly with SWT and less tightly
with the Platform UI in both a physical and logical sense? JFace is
helpful in standalone (rich client) apps but requires a lot more of the
Eclipse jars because of the Platform UI tie-in. If this is already part of
the RCP plans, I missed it. Thanks.
