The team is looking into this. At first look it appears to be another problem related to feature versions not changing when the plug-in versions have changed.

The build is NOT GOOD from a JDTCore standpoint (i.e. not just an issue with the tests). It contains obsolete bytes for JDT/Core. 
Need someone from PDE/Build to look into it ASAP pls.

We verified the zip eclipse-SDK-M20081217-0800-win32.zip and it does contain a 2-weeks old version of JDT/Core. 
It should contain: org.eclipse.jdt.core_3.4.4.v_892_R4x but instead does contain: org.eclipse.jdt.core_3.4.4.v_890_R4x. 
Since map files look correct, and no error got found during compilation (*), we believe the correct sources got fetched and compiled together. 
The incremental construction of the SDK zip and test run however did use the obsolete JAR. 

(*) If obsolete sources had been used, then the tests would have failed to compile. Instead they only fail at runtime with a NoClassDefFoundError (e.g. http://fullmoon.ottawa.ibm.com/downloads/drops/M20081217-0800/testresults/html/org.eclipse.jdt.core.tests.model_linux.gtk.x86_5.0.html).

All JDT/Core tests do pass locally. 
On the surface, this looks like an issue on releng side (as if it was consuming an older version of JDT/Core to latest tests, which expect improved behavior wrt to last fixes applied). I verified the source files/map files, and all versions are consistent (v_892_R34x). 

Could it be that the releng script is failing to construct the zip properly ?
