[platform-debug-dev] Problem with JDK1.4

Hi 
Hope this is the right forum to raise the issue
I just started using JDK1.4 with eclipse and am unable to get the debugger
working 
The debug button on toolbar does nothing, I cant find any log of teh problem
or any configuration that is wrong 
could some one help?
I am able to set breakpoints visually, which of course dont work as debugger
doesnt run
