What server do you use? Apache on Linux?
Try this command: less *_acces*.log
| grep committers/committertools/stats.php | awk '{print $2}' | uniq | wc –l

allow me to know how many downloads were performed by direct downloads and
update site usage but not by unique IPs. I guess it can give an estimation
