Re: [paho-dev] Bugzilla and project cleanup
|
Hi Andy,
congratulations on becoming a committer. I just wanted to point out that also the forum needs monitoring as the first questions are starting to pop there.
See you at EclipseCon Europe,
Sopot

Hi everyone
I'm very grateful to the Paho team for electing me to join them as a Committer on the project, and excited to start helping to move things forward.
For those who don't know me, a (very brief) intro, skip it if not needed! I've been an Open Source contributor and enthusiast for going on 15 years, and helped to coordinate projects such as OpenUT, Anjuta and others before joining IBM in 2001. Obviously I'm also an Eclipse user and fan, and have a fair bit of Java experience. I spent 10 years working with IBM's messaging and middleware technologies and I've been a spokesperson and cheerleader for MQTT for the last 3 or 4 years. I was delighted to be able to work on the transition from IBM into Eclipse late last year. In February I joined VMware where I'm a Developer Advocate for the Cloud Foundry platform, but with an interest in messaging, architecture, and modern languages. I'm also an IoT and device freak with a large collection of Arduinos, Raspberry Pis, mbeds, and other microcontrollers, and a member of the London IoT community. One day I'll build something meaningful...
I've joined the team as a Committer primarily to work on community, samples and developer assets, and also to work with our "sister" M2M projects Koneki and Mihini if I can help to bridge any communication gaps.
So! first things first. I've just been through Bugzilla to ensure that all of the bugs that are there have been triaged and (hopefully) appropriately assigned to team members. My aim is not to have bugs remain in the default "Unconfirmed" state for as long as some of them have been. I'm a strong believer in using Bugzilla appropriately and also in having issues raised there so that they are visible and able to be tracked, so do let us know if there are things that you believe need to be looked at.
I'll look at tidying up some areas of the wiki and getting more information out there. I'm also aware that we desperately need a binary build of the Java client Jar available to encourage more people to play with MQTT, so I'll try to get something uploaded to the Downloads server soon.
I'm here to help, so please use the mailing list and bugzilla to raise issues and questions as we work to polish up the clients and look towards working with Koneki on an integrated M2M IDE for next year.
See you at EclipseCon Europe? ;-)
Andy
