Hi Cédric, Georg, all,
Thanks Cédric for reminding us of the current context and substantial contribution of the Good Governance Initiative.
What I've learned and understood from the GGI and OSPO Zone participants and interactions for almost a year now is a strong need for practical ideas and guidance. GGI has been widely seen as a significant contribution to the domain's body of knowledge regarding this, and following the existing paths or answers will only lead us to the same existing outputs. There is obviously no point in doing the same thing again; I'd rather build upon the existing experience and enrich it -- and that's what the GGI framework does (well) IMHO.
Laura, Georg, Daniel, you're awesome! Thanks for the time and effort put into this list.
As I see it, many items actually map well with known GGI activities. A few examples are:
* "Participation to events" resonate with activities [#27] and [#31]
* "Internal evangelism and training" resonate with activities [#17] and [#34]
* "Contributions to OSS projects and ecosystem" resonate with activities [#26] and [#33], among others.
[#27] Belonging to the open source community
[#31] Publicly asserting use of open source
[#17] Inventory of open source skills and resources
[#34] C-Level awareness
[#26] Contributing to OSS projects
[#33] Engaging with OSS vendors
Some items of this list are missing from the GGI however, and are definitely worth considering inclusion in the body of knowledge. I'll make a proposition along that lines during the next meeting (held next Tuesday, and open to all).
As a reminder for those interested, the Good Governance Initiative framework is open to all, and is documented at:
Thanks again, have a marvelous day!
