I know this isn't exactly what you meant ... but, becareful what you put in writing ....
anything who's purpose is ".... work around any IP
issues ..." would not be the right thing to do, by

definition. But, I know you meant, "one idea that would
follow the Eclipse legal process" :)

Actually,

here is an idea that might work around any IP
issues: I could probably ask the original
author of the two patches to attach them on
our Eclipse Bugzilla bug and license them under
EPL.

Then we should be out of trouble if I applied
them to the released commons net source,
shouldn't we?
