The plan is indeed to release GF soon. From what I understand the current master as 6.2 would seem appropriate to me.

Not sure what you mean by release. I'd rather not promote M1 to
central (per handbook "Milestone builds and release candidates are not
themselves official releases."),
but I have no critical changes queued that should land in 6.2.

If there is a plan to release GF soon, then I've no objection to
releasing ~current master MQ as 6.2 (unless Ed confirmed that bump to
7.0 would be more appropriate).
