Re: [open-regulatory-compliance] Reminder - Open Regulatory Compliance Working Group Election Nomination Period Ends Today.

Dear all,

I'm writing to nominate myself for a position on the Steering Committee or the Specification Committee of the ORC Working Group as a representative of a Participant Member (OBEO).

Background and Experience:

Since January 2023, I've been serving as the In-House Lawyer at Obeo, an independent software provider specializing in open-source technologies for creating visual and collaborative modeling solutions. We're deeply invested in the open source community, leading projects like Sirius Web, Eclipse SysON, Acceleo, EMF Compare, and M2Doc, and contributing to Eclipse Capella.

Before joining Obeo, I spent six years working as an attorney-at-law at a well-known U.S. firm, focusing on contract law, EU compliance, competition law, and consumer protection. This experience gave me a solid understanding of the EU legislative framework, especially regarding product compliance with EU directives, regulations, and mandatory standards.

At Obeo, my role involves drafting license agreements, service level agreements and professional services contracts, and ensuring we comply with various regulations like GDPR and employment laws. This position has deepened my involvement with the open source ecosystem, and I've actively participated in industry discussions. Earlier this year, I joined the working group on the Cyber Resilience Act (CRA) and contributed to the implementation guide for the CRA drafted by the CNLL.

Candidate Statement:

I think the upcoming implementation of the CRA brings both challenges and opportunities for the open source community. As a lawyer, I'm keen to use my expertise to help the working group navigate these changes. I aim to assist members in understanding and complying with new regulatory requirements, advocate for the interests of small and medium enterprises within the group, and help turn regulatory obligations into opportunities to innovate and strengthen the open source ecosystem.

Working at Obeo has given me a deep appreciation for open source values and collaboration. I'm enthusiastic about the chance to contribute to the ORC Working Group's mission of leading regulatory compliance for open source, as I see it as a catalyst for positive change and fostering collaboration between industry stakeholders and governmental bodies.

Thank you for considering my nomination.

Sincerely,
