  • Thread-topic: Welcome to GOSIM Europe and Rust Industry Track (May 6-7) Delft, The Netherlands

 Hi all Oniro friends!

In just over a month we will bring the GOSIM Conference to Europe for the first time on May 6.
See
GOSIM Conference 2024 - MAY 6, 2024 DELFT, THE NETHERLANDS

It is a full day, starting at 09:30am with 3 parallel tracks and great speakers!

On Tuesday May 7 we have the Rust Industry track in collaboration with RustNL (at the same location),
This track runs in the afternoon: 13:30-17:30
See: https://2024.rustnl.org/industry/

You are all warmly invited!

Can you let us know who could join us in Delft, Netherlands?

We will help to arrange event tickets, etc. and we also have some discount hotel rates negotiated.

Once again Welcome from Futurewei and the GOSIM organization.

Best,

/Mats

Note:

Among the speakers you will have Jonathan Schwender from HW talking about OpenHarmony OS and how you make a Rust app like Servo running successfully on an OH enabled Smartphone.
The Rust Industry Track also looks very promising as the interest for memory safe programming languages is  growing quickly including initiatives from US and EU Governments.

See attached recent report from the White House.

This follow this report from last year https://www.nsa.gov/Press-Room/Press-Releases-Statements/Press-Release-View/Article/3608324/us-and-international-partners-issue-recommendations-to-secure-software-products/ which includes endorsement from all Five Eyes countries.

So in short the RUST support for a new OS will likely be very important for success (including adoption)  and I would recommend that Oniro is also promoting its Rust capabilities in 2H 2024.

It is already in the high level Oniro overview but these events during May 6-7 will hopefully give more concrete input and potentially also find European organizations that would consider joining the Oniro WG!
And it is just not the programming language but also secure SBOM,  good IDE etc. where again Oniro already have some interesting partnership/collaborations.
