One major change in authorship; Steve Cook from Microsoft is a leading
submitter.
UML 2.5 is a major simplification (Infrastructure and Superstructure merged as
one, and reorganised to avoid duplication. 50% of text is auto-generated from
models. Models are now normative. Specification OCL has been semantically
checked using Eclipse OCL.)
The UML 2.5 team had no remit to make changes, so in principle the metamodels
are unchanged from 2.4, except that as it all became more readable, more
readers started reading and some totally untenable parts of the metamodel had
to be fixed.
[Since the OCL is significantly debugged and extended, my goal is to facilitate
implemenation of UML 2.5 in MDT/UML2 by supporting auto-generation rather than
manual transcription of the OCL to Java. This will also start a virtuous circle
of implementation/specification feedback.]
