As you probably know, DevNexus is coming up pretty soon and there are a
few MicroProfile related talks in the Jakarta EE track:
https://devnexus.com/schedule. It seems to me the vendor presence
generally is also pretty strong. As a happy coincidence, we have quite a
bit of swag budget left over from 2022.
It was discussed during a marketing call that Javaland takes place on March 20th-22nd and that we also wished to cover the MP speakers, if any were accepted at JVL. That is if we successfully could cover the MP speakers at DevNexus. Soft Plan for MP speakers' coverage at events in 2023 Q1.
A brief search shows that Javaland has 2 MP sessions and 3 MicroProfilers participating. Same as Devnexus, yet asking Jan (iJUG and contributor to Javaland organizers) could ensure that all MP speakers are covered.
- My thought goes into forging positive iterations with MP swag fun. Especially when highlighting MicroProfilers speaking at diverse events. I recommend MP covers the three speakers at Javaland with the same swag numbers as the coverage at DevNexus. 30 hoodies (10 per speaker) and at least 1000 stickers. That means 60 hoodies, 6 MicroProfilers, and two events in Q1, 2023 using a portion of the 2022 Swag.
The leftover swag could be distributed equally to the 10 Members in 2022. What do others think?
By default, we plan to give a modest amount of swag to the three
speakers on MicroProfile topics to distribute during their talks.
- 2 MP sessions, 3 MP speakers (Emily, Edwin, Josh). Agreed: 10 swag items to each speaker (💛Emily, Josh, and Edwin💛)
However, I think we can do a lot better than that in terms of swag
distribution at DevNexus. So I have the following questions for you.
* Are you a community oriented person coming to DevNexus? Are you
willing to distribute some swag both at the event and maybe afterwards
at your JUG/company, etc? If so, how much in terms of "shirts"
IMO --- Free-range swag coverage is a complicated task to iterate. Judging who gets what swag and keeping everyone happy is a road MP should do its best to avoid embarking on.

The 2022 budget is ~USD 15,000. The hoodies were estimated at ~$52.76 per unit, costing about ~284 Hoodies.

It would be fantastic if, using the 2023 budget, at least 1000 MP stickers were printed to cover the six speakers at the Javaland and DevNexus (size and design file for the MP sticker). F

* Does your company have a booth presence? If so, are you willing to
help distribute swag at your booth and related logistics? Can we send
swag directly to your booth? If so, how much in terms of "shirts" and
stickers?
I recommend lowering the complexity of swag coverage, my feedback above on this explains. Focusing on the ten members listed in the Swag Allocation spreadsheet
here and the two events covering the 6 MP speakers simplifies matters greatly.
That is if the 2022 MP members agree.
Lastly, to help Emerson and Reza, I updated the swag allocation sheet (public view and public editable) as follows:
- Added Primeton
- Added DevNexus
- Added Javaland
- Removed t-shirts
- Added Hoodies
