Re: [microprofile-wg] MicroProfile Working Group Website

John/Amelia:

We truly appreciate your feedback and helpful information on the background of the website.

That said things have changed with the creation of the MicroProfile Working Group.  The microprofile.io Website has grown from its original role as a project community portal, into a primary source of information regarding the development and dissemination of project assets, and now the working group’s official website. And as with other working groups, the MicroProfile.io domain is owned by the Eclipse Foundation as is the MicroProfile trademark. The Foundation registers and supports ongoing use of the domain name and trademark on behalf of the working group and community. For this reason the Eclipse Foundation has certain obligations to keep websites in conformance with our governance to ensure that they are maintained in a vendor neutral manner, irrespective of who is maintaining it.

We request the MicroProfile.io website be updated as soon as possible to reuse the standard Eclipse website footer.  We are attaching the HTML code to assist you with this effort. Further, the working group must have a documented vendor neutral process for granting privileges (e.g., administrative, editorial, and contributor) to the website. It goes without saying, if not already in place, please ensure the Eclipse Webmaster (webmaster@xxxxxxxxxxx) has administrative access.

Thanks for the cooperation in this important governance matter.

Best Regards,
Sharon

Hola Sharon,

Jon is correct. We don't use the EF website hosting services available for its WGs.

On the 2nd point, are you recommending we add the Explore Page to the MPWG page?
If yes, consider it done. That's easy under the Knowledge section. Keep in mind that the WG's Explore Page has been integrated under the MPWG Prospectus, located on 3 different parts of the page.

I have a related Explore page question for you. I wonder where to submit a request/bug to get it.
Can the INFRA of the working group allow the Projects to have their own landing/click page?
As it stands, the Working Groups listing doesn't allow for individual focus. It brings the viewer to the entire group.  Though that's ok now as the EF WG are less than 20 Projects, that won't scale as more Projects to join the WG initiative.
I recommend for EF EMO directs its INFRA team (Chris and team rocks, I would be happy to work with them on this) to improve the page.

Thanks for the follow-up, Sharon.  We appreciate the time you spent checking the new page. Super fun stuff!

Sharon, the site is not hosted by the Eclipse Foundation. The site was established before MicroProfile joined the Eclipse Foundation, so we’ve been hosting it ourselves (via AWS and Wordpress).

Hello Amelia:

Thank you for letting us know the MPWG website went live today.  That is great news and the website looks awesome!

I'd like to bring the following two items related to the website to the working group's attention:

1.  The website will need to ensure it is in compliance with Eclipse website requirements.  See Section 9 of the Eclipse Foundation Hosted Services and Acceptable Usage Policy which identifies the requirements.

2.  You'll note from other working group tiles we include a specific link to members of working groups.  Will there be specific link on the MPWG website that we can link to?  As an example, see the Explore Page.   Just let us know and we will update the MicroProfile tile.

Best Regards,
Sharon
