Re: RE : RE : [mdt-papyrus.dev] Minutes of the meeting 2009 09 15

Raphaël,

Thanks, your suggestion sounds great to me - please let me know if I can help in any way.

Cheers,

Kenn

Hi guys,

Sure that we have plenty of work to do but if we care about the development plan in next february, it will be too late to join Helios train and we will have to wait for july 2011 to see papyrus delivered with the others components of the Eclipse modelling stack. Sad...
I think that we do not really have the choice to wait if we want to join the current train: we will have to support both process and code (and quality)

However I agree that we need to be very agile and not spend too much time on planning. My suggestion is to focus on the backlog : build a product backlog to give an overview for the community, and plan the items of next M2 and M3 sprints, by selecting the Mylin tasks that we find the most important for end users. It should not consume too much time.
Emilien has experience with Scrum and I asked him to suggest a first draft of product backlog and sprint backlog for the end of the week.
As soon as he will have initiated it, we can have a conf call and choose the item according to our production capacity.

Is it ok for you?
Cheers
raphaël

 Hi Kenn,

I do agree with you, but I do think also that it is a little but pre mature for Papyrus. According to me, it is only in January 2010 that Papyrus will start to be really usable and ready to be exposed to public.
But ok, we will try to spent some times on the plan.

 Cheers... Sébastien.

 Sébastien,
I'm not discounting the importance of writing code, but the development plan
is an important (and required) part of what makes a successful Eclipse
release. It helps engage a projects' communities (developers, consumers, and
users) and holds committers accountable for what they will deliver and when.
So, I think both are important. ;)

Please let me know how I can help.

 Cheers,

 Kenn
