fyi, since I also can see subclipse usage data I can report here it to:
1.8.0 108 0.04%
1.4.2 333 0.12%
1.5.0 19577 7.33%
1.7.0 60316 22.60%
1.6.0 186604 69.91%
Grand Total 266938
Note: please take this sample with a gran of salt since I can't quality check these numbers from subclipse - but it is the same period (last 5 days) as jboss tools numbers posted before.
My guess is the numbers here for JAva 6 is so high because svn is used *alot* and in especially "old shops".
