Did you make any decision yet?
I have no issue with an AC representative continuing to avoid being
distracted by the wider Eclipse Foundation.
At least for a little while... :-)
FYI, I'm going to put my name as the mentor on the GeoBench project
and schedule the creation review. Whoever ends up being the
LocationTech Technology representative can take my place.

Hey All, my flight was delayed so I just landed

We can chat about it in todays call. In the
past we chose to focus on incubating any projects before
being distracted by the wider eclipse foundation.
I think we now have enough action that it is worth
sharing our experience with the wider eclipse community.
Especially if we are considering some joint undertakings
with the science working group. Our voice should already
be heard in the wider community via Chris Holmes in his
role as board member.

Greetings
LocationTech Technology PMC.
The PMC is entitled to designate an Architecture
Council (AC) representative.
The responsibilities of the AC are to provide
architectural oversight, project mentoring, and
maintenance of the Eclipse Development Process.
Architectural oversight is a fancy way of saying that
the group periodically publishes some best practices
or provides other sorts of general guidance for
projects.
An AC member should attend at least some of the
monthly calls, but don't get hung up on that. Frankly,
I think that it would be great if somebody from
LocationTech attended even quarterly to give a ~10
minute LocationTech state of the union presentation.
The AC is responsible for tuning the development
process, so knowing your pain is valuable.
More pragmatically, an AC member can mentor projects.
Since many of you provide this sort of mentoring
anyway, it would be very handy for me if we can
formalize the relationship (e.g. I'm having trouble
locating a mentor who is not me for the GeoBench
project).
How do we proceed? When I've asked in the past, the
PMC has declined the offer; has the situation changed?
Do we want to nominate via mailing list, or is this
something that you'd rather wait and do on the next
call?
Thanks,
Wayne
