Re: [technology-pmc] DNS redirects for geogig.org

I'd like to add an other point: How about providing NIGHTLY P2 repositories? E.g. uDig creates a SDK others could use directly in target definitions. Right now the hudson build jobs provides it as an attached artefact. IMHO its a bit complicated to use it (downloading, hosting by yourself and integrate it).

Could anybody help configuring hudson jobs / maven build to depoly P2 artefacts to a udig P2.

Looking forward for any hint

I was more thinking in terms of LocationTech - can we make any kind of release available during incubation? What do we have to do etc... I think the answer could help projects like JTS that are waiting for "one more release" etc...

As for download location, given source forge's recent glitches (tech/ethics) I would like a bit of distance.

Not too sure about Hudson (as those machines should be focused on build speed rather than storage). But I guess if "nightly" are available there a download associated with a tag could also be made available there.

Jody,

I wonder, would Hudson be a good place to host the betas/milestones?

It worked out, DNS was already redirecting to GitHub, we had to fiddle with repository settings (CNAME file) that had been duplicated in original boundless repo (containing history) and new locationtech repo (containing future!).

Resolving that conflict and things are now sorted - http://geogig.org

I may as well ask a difficult question here while we are on the topic :)

Currently we have "beta" releases available for download (technically we have punted them onto SourceForge). Should we be doing something else to publish "beta" / "preview" files while we go through incubation?

(These were done prior to joining LocationTech, but the links are still on the website, and I would not mind issuing a second beta or release candidate next week before foss4g).

Jody,

I don't think it matters too much... so long as you email webmaster to draw their attention to the bug.

If you don't hear back in ~24 hours, ping me and I'll wander down to talk to the team.

Here is an interesting one, as part of the proposal process I believe domain names were transferred to the eclipse foundation.

I have a bug report here (https://www.locationtech.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=62) about geogig.org being redirected to the wrong github pages repository. What is a good way to update the DNS redirect?

Since this is eclipse I am sure the answer is bugzilla ... but which one?
