Hi Everyone,
Craig asked me a good question that I wanted to bring to the mailing
list for discussion & input. It was:
Who curates code and other
intellectual assets to ensure they are useful and appropriate?
Good question Craig, there are a
few main forces involved:
1) The Eclipse Development
Process will govern important project life-cycle such as
creation/incubation/archiving, structure, etc. My colleague Wayne
Beaton, Director of Open Source projects is the lead in this area.
2) The Eclipse IP process also. My colleague Janet Campbell,
Director of Intellectual Property is the lead in this area.
3) The industry working group itself decides on direction and can
define a list of outputs/deliverables. One item that we've talked
a bit about already is defining and producing a platform to be
released regularly.
4) My mandate as Director of Ecosystems will be influenced to
support the above & help drive execution on IWG initiatives.
Our vision/mission/architecture/business strategy as a IWG will
shape how we recruit projects & organizations.
I'd love to hear each of your thoughts on this area to keep a
constant focus on the value you're seeking.
Thanks for bringing this up Craig,
Andrew
