Re: [jstl-dev] Jakarta Tags, EE11 release discussion

Hi Arjan,

I don't have an objection to this and actually proposed it previously here: https://www.eclipse.org/lists/jsp-dev/msg00257.html a couple of years ago. There was not at the time a lot of support for such a merge. Perhaps feelings have changed and we can give it another try.

Besides a common set of committers, what are the main pros of such a merge in your opinion? Would you be open to proposing this to the Jakarta Pages project again and pointing to some other Spec projects that you're working to combine?

At this point for EE11, I don't see Jakarta Tags having a new release, but if we can get traction for a merge that could be one action we could take during the EE11 timeframe to help the Jakarta Tags project going forward.

Thanks,

Paul NIcolucci

Because of this, but also from a logical perspective, I'd like to propose to merge the Jakarta Tags projects into the Jakarta Pages project. It may once have made sense to have them separate, but I don't think that currently such a small and relatively inactive project warrants having its own project and committers etc (for the same reason we're also merging authentication and authorization into security)

Kind regards,
Arjan Tijms
