If I'm not mistaken, Arquillian Embedded for GlassFish was the first implementation of an embedded connector back in 2011 or so. 


perfect. so it should be possible to run TCK tests within an IDE?
Or maybe I'm missing something because I'm mainly focused on servlet container TCK (servlet, websocket, jsp, el etc..)?
btw regarding starting a database, an email server obviously testcontainer sounds like the technology to use for testing purpose (or at least having this as an option)
