Hi,
We are very close
to having a workable version of the Jakarta EE 9 Platform and Web Profile
APIs. Just waiting on Jakarta Faces... They're working on it...
:-)
As a heads up to everyone, we released the Jakarta Faces API artefact over the weekend and is now available. I followed the procedure as outlined earlier, meaning that the associated Mojarra implementation doesn't necessarily works.
The next
item on our TODO list
is the updating of the TCKs -- both the individual TCKs as well as the
Platform TCK. Our goal for completing this activity was next Friday,
March 13. That does not look feasible at this point. But,
I would like to get a reading on where we are at with this portion of the
exercise.
Should we update the dates now? I took the liberty to edit the note on the EE 9 plan board a little bit:
----
* Individual Component Plan Reviews (**Feb 1**)
* All API jars available (~Feb 14th~) -> **8 March**
* Platform TCK changes complete (**March 13th**)
* Full Profile and Web Profile First Release Candidate (**May 4th**)
* Full Profile and Web Profile Final Release Review Votes Start (**June 12th)**
----
I added the "8 March" part marking the completion of that item.
One thing to note is that the updated TCK can't be release tested until there's a compatible implementation, right?
Kind regards,
Arjan
I created a new
column in our Project Board for TCK
Updated.
Based on the Checklist in each of the Issues, I moved three Projects
to that status. I'm guessing there are more Projects that could be
moved. If you have updated your TCK, please update your Checklist
and move the Issue to the TCK Updated column. As the Platform
TCK team starts pulling in the various TCKs for the Jakarta EE 9 TCK, then
at least they'll know the expected content.
Another critical
piece for the end result is to have an updated Compatible Implementation.
At this point, I didn't create a separate column for that state.
My take is that if a Project has the API, TCK, and CI ready, then
they should be prepping for the "final" release and the Issue
should be moved to the Pre-Release Review Preparation column and
the corresponding PRs should be created and reviewed.
I should also
point out that many of the Projects are prepping their Specifications for
Jakarta EE 9. Although these updates Specifications (based on the
original source) is not a firm requirement for Jakarta EE 9, I am in full
support of completing this activity. I think it will provide an excellent
base as we move beyond Jakarta EE 9. Thanks for taking the initiative
to get these Specifications in proper "Jakarta" shape!
Thanks for your
help in developing Jakarta EE 9! We're making great progress!
