Jakarta Activation is on my list things to do. I've got many of the
changes staged locally but haven't had time to push them due to the
other Jakarta EE work. Once all the required specs are up for a
vote, I'll get back to this.

Thanks for the sharp eyes, Anthony!
Activation is one of the Jakarta specifications
under the former Java SE umbrella and currently included in JDK
8. It was decided that we'd focus on the EE specs not already
in the JVM and come back to the SE specs when there's time.
The translation for the above is not "nothing to see
here, move along", but actually, congratulations you spotted a
prime, unspoken, place to contribute if you'd like the honor to
get in the commit history :) If you wanted to make the changes
to the Activation project to add a boilerplate spec, clean up
the javadoc and scrub the trademarks, it would be an absolutely
wonderful thing to tee up for vote after we get the critical
specs cleared.
The current schedule has PRs
lined up for review every 2-3 days till August 27th. We
could get this up immediately after. If it happens to
magically get in perfect shape and we find ourselves waiting
on other specs, perhaps even before.
Side note, it's incredibly
encouraging to know there are people out there paying close
attention and feeling welcome to jump in. That's a great
sign.
