Re: [jakarta.ee-spec] BALLOT: Approval to Release Jakarta Annotations 2.0

Thanks, Jean-Louis.  I am double-checking with Dmitry, but I don't see these issues as show-stoppers.  Yes, they should be fixed, but they can wait until the next rev of the Spec and/or TCK (imho).  I'll register your -1 vote and work with Dmitry on the next required steps.  Thanks!

-1 (Tomitribe)

Reasons for spec document:
- jakarta.xml.rpc.Service --> bad javax search/replace but anyways, it does not exist anymore in Jakarta so must be removed.
- org.omg.CORBA_2_3.ORB --> to be removed

In TCK:
- jakarta.transaction.xa --> bad search/replace. Needs to stay in javax namespace.

Sorry I would cancel this one to get the fixes and open up a new vote.
PR already available with fixes https://github.com/eclipse-ee4j/common-annotations-api/pull/80

Greetings Jakarta EE Specification Committee.

I need your vote to approve and ratify the release of Jakarta Annotations 2.0 as part of the Jakarta EE Platform 9 release.

The JESP/EFSP requires a successful ballot of the Specification Committee in order to ratify the products of this release as a Final Specification (as that term is defined in the EFSP).

The relevant materials are available here:

https://github.com/jakartaee/specifications/pull/224
https://deploy-preview-224--jakartaee-specifications.netlify.app/specifications/annotations/2.0/

Note:
The Compatibility Request for Annotations 2.0 is referencing a Nightly SNAPSHOT of Glassfish.  We discussed this on yesterday's Spec Committee call and agree that this needs to be firmed up.  But, until we agree on what's exactly required and the fact that we did allow Servlet 5.0 ballot to proceed with a similar reference, I'm going to take the liberty of starting this vote.

Per the process, this will be a fourteen day ballot, ending on Wednesday, Oct 14, 2020 that requires a Super-majority positive vote of the Specification Committee members (note that there is no veto). Community input is welcome, but only votes cast by Specification Committee Representatives will be counted.

The Specification Committee is composed of representatives of the Jakarta EE Working Group Member Companies (Fujitsu, IBM, Oracle, Payara, Red Hat, Tomitribe, and Primeton), along with individuals who represent the EE4J PMC, Participant Members, and Committer Members.

Specification Committee representatives, your vote is hereby requested. Please respond with +1 (positive), 0 (abstain), or -1 (reject).  Any feedback that you can provide to support your vote will be appreciated.

Thanks …
