For re-creating images in enterprise beans, I used a tool called Pencil[1], exported it to SVG and used SVG optimizer[2]
to get a clean SVG output that can be imported into inkscape.
This is still not merged but I have a branch in my repo[3].
I am looking at another tool called Lunacy[4] but haven’t got time to play around it.

Arjan,
I can see that viewpoint. But, on the other hand, I don't want to select a specific format and *require* all existing images to be converted. And, if it's a super simple
change, then maybe a simple picture editor is sufficient for updating a png image. I don't want to require a certain tool or image format if it's just making busy work for someone. Now, maybe we could say that *if* you are going to change or modify an image
from the png format, then it's strongly suggested that you use svg format and use inkscape as the tool (as an example).
Werner,
Prove that it works for this exercise and we can take a look. But, part of this request is to get some real advice from experienced users. I do not plan to personally
try out more and more tools unless someone can demonstrate that it works better than inkscape. Thanks.

Hi Edwin,
I don't think we have to decide on a single type of image format or tool to be used across all of the Specifications. Yes, it's good to have Asciidoc as a base. But, each component Specification may have different requirements for their images. Whatever
works for each component is fine by me.
Then again, most technical images are not that different in nature, and for most projects I'm involved with the tool wouldn't matter really. So I'd just toss a coin. If we all just toss a coin, we have say 10 different formats for no particular reason ;)
So I think it would be good to recommend a tool/format at least.
Kind regards,
Arjan
