Re: [jakarta.ee-community] [ADD Platform Tuesday Call recordings- past & future] to the Youtube channel #787
|
Hi Amelia,Every Project
within Jakarta EE can have their own set of github pages. The Platform
project has their github pages: https://eclipse-ee4j.github.io/jakartaee-platform/Not every project
is using this feature, but the Platform project has been. On this
page, you can find references related to the Platform Specification Project
and it's deliverables (including a link to the minutes page).Point being is
that we are not trying to hide this information. But, I agree it
may not be intuitive to find. And, actually this is a known issue
across the wider Jakarta EE ecosystem. We have many areas to house
information (jakarta.ee, github repos, github pages, wikis, specifications
repo, etc) and sometimes it's not the easiest to find the information you
are looking for. This is probably a bigger issue that needs some
oversight to resolve over the whole project, not just the Platform piece
of it. This question/issue should probably be discussed at the Steering
Group level to help give some focus.

Kevin, Ivar and Werner Thanks for looping
in to provide your personal feedback. Then, can this website
or page be added to the Jakarta EE website? https://eclipse-ee4j.github.io/jakartaee-platform/minutes/minutes.html No where in the websiteI locate those minutes. For that matter, as it is relevant to the
Jakarta website friendly navigation, can we also add the Community
Call minutes? I won't create
the 2 git issues with such a request until I understand why/where/how we
are planning to feed the data to not only today's active Jakartees but
future ones. Mindful that I had
to ask my team for the exact link of the Platform minutes b/c as a non-technical
Jakartee, I had no clue where they are housed. Wishing everyone
a good wknd, thanks for the exchanges thus far. Amelia

with your assessment, Werner. The members of the Platform Project
will decide whether to record their meetings. So far, it has not
been requested by those participating. In my particular case, if
I can't attend any meeting, I consult the minutes for the summary.
If I didn't have time to attend the meeting, I probably don't have the
time to view a recording.
In the case of the Platform calls, Ivar and I have done a pretty good job
of keeping the minutes up-to-date during the meeting. Others on the
call have also participated in keeping the minutes -- Bill did an outstanding
job one week for a "non-meeting". We also post the minutes
via PRs asking for reviews and approvals before they are logged.
So, we feel the minutes have been pretty accurate without the need for
a recording. My two cents worth...

Why would anybody want to watch every single meeting?
Are the JCP EC Meetings (except the one or two per year that are public)
recorded...?
I would not be against it if there really was such high demand other than
Amelia, but I am skeptical about the demand.
Is it possible to analyze the access numbers in Google Docs how many times
the minutes are viewed, or does Google Docs not offer such numbers? Because
why would those who don't even bother to read the minutes want to watch
a video of the call?Werner
