Thank
you Tanja.
Most
appreciative for that follow up to come directly to this forum
and further I request that the topic to be extended to the
private calls in the Steering Committee too.
Some of
the feedback includes what this project recognizes as valuable
contributions moving the ecosystem forward. How we chose to
write this part of the Charter and solely focus on code
has been and continues to a concern. I have explicitly stated
that to the WG via private channels while stuff was being
worked out. Today, I am making it public as it might likely
require the adjustment of the WG Charter for the Jakarta
project, not adjusted since its introduction +2yrs.
Cheers
with tea,
Hello Amelia, All!
Thanks for your input and view point. I will raise your
email and concerns with the Marketing Committee for their
review and consideration.
Best,
Tanja

Happy
Friday Tanja, Sharon and Jakartees,
Thank
you for sharing the names of the aspiring 2020
Jakarta EE Candidates.
This
is the 2nd year in a row that the Marketing Cmtee
seat under the Committers class gets no Jakartees.
Based
on the conversations I have been having about this
project's nominations & navigating it while
trying to clarify Q&A being asked, I think we
need to consider bringing "softer- entry" for the
marketing Cmtee seat Nominations.
Why?
- Today,
Jakarta EE as a project doesn't recognize
none-code contributions as something that will
convert that she/he into a Committer for the
project
- The marketing
Cmtee operates in a vacuum making almost
impossible for anyone watching to know what
the committee's responsibilities actually are.
This is changing as some Partners are choosing
to collaborate via open forums, but it is not
the dynamics or chosen standard.
Either, the
Jakarta WG project adjust its way to work
together to bring much more visibility on
WHY/HOW/WHAT is becoming the truth for the
project via:
- Mktg having
its own REPO that welcomes anyone to submit
tickets on anything Jakarta not related
to code
- acknowledging that
Contributors helping on branding activities
such a designs, blogs, translations, are
likely to be nominated as a Committees
OR,
- do we stay
still while seats remain empty and do
nothing to rectify the situation based on
actual feedback,
#sharingIScaring,
Hello Jakarta EE Community and Happy Friday!

All,
It’s official! Jakarta EE participant and committer members will soon have important choices to make as the end of the nomination phase confirms elections will be held this year to fill the Participant and Committer Member seats for the Jakarta EE Committees.
This email communication introduces the standing candidates and provides an overview of how the election process will work:
Standing Candidates:
We are extremely pleased and excited to announce the candidates listed below. Please note each candidate name contains a link to their biography. We encourage you to read about these candidates. And thank you to all candidates for your interest to participate.
* Note: Wei Yong Sen (Marketing and Brand Committee) and Werner Keil (Specification Committee) will be acclaimed to the roles as we do not hold elections when there is only one nominee.
Ballot Distribution:
You will receive a ballot if:
a) you are the company representative for a Participant member company. As a reminder, the current Participant members are listed here.
b) you are a Jakarta EE Committer member. As a reminder, Jakarta EE Committer members are committers on an EE4J project that either: i) work for a member company, or ii) are independent Committer members of the Eclipse Foundation by virtue of executing a Membership Agreement.
Election Date:
Ballots will be distributed early next week and the election will remain open through May 15, 2020. Further information on ballot distribution will be provided at that time.
More Information:
The Working Group Charter defines the classes of membership, the various committees and their responsibilities, and the election process.
Please do not hesitate to reach out if you have any questions.
