Nice to hear especially from one of the smaller vendors than Oracle or IBM. 

That's the risk of the "Big Bang" approach we discussed for a while in the Specification Committee and similar groups.
And now that even JSR 330 (@Inject) which has not changed in decades was wrapped up into the Jakarta EE 8 basket, it's the biggest bang to imagine. 

Having slated such release date immediately after the Summer holidays may also affect the ability to help out even in the larger companies. And not every country has short vacations like the US or Asia. 
Especially France has 2 months of summer holidays from July 6 till August 31.

The most important thing to make sure for those who want to contribute more than comments on Github

HAVE YOUR VALID ECA IN PLACE 

David knows best how long the paperwork may take. It cost the first New Jakarta EE Spec (not in 8 yet) NoSQL at least 6 months between the approval by the Spec Committee and the actual creation of the new spec.

So if you are not an Eclipse Committee or employed by one and you haven't signed the Eclipse Contributer Agreement at the very least, please do that before you propose a PR. 

If you don't you block us merging them and increase the risk of merge conflicts that may also easily jeopardize the whole endeavor.

They are not.  We need everyone's help.  We need your help.


HOW YOU CAN SAVE THE DAY

We need more eyes sweeping all 34+ specification project PRs looking for inconsistency and calling it out.  Even better, fixing it.

What I see is some PRs are great, some are ok, some are behind. But I don't see anyone who has filed a PR reviewing anyone else's PR and helping them out.

Is that us?  No, we help each other out, always.

So come help out.  You don't need to be a special someone, just a willing someone.  You've got two weeks to join everyone else in NOT understanding the requirements and to work along side us all to UNDERSTAND the requirements ... and help get that reflected in all the PRs.

Sometimes there is no clear requirement, but it becomes clear one is needed and that is another area you can help.


WHY THESE PRS ARE IMPORTANT?

These will trigger the voting process (7 days minimum) and finalize each spec.  See these details:

WHAT ARE THE KEY DATES?

We need 80% of these PRs to be perfect by August 13th and voting to immediately start on them.
We need the rest of these PRs to be perfect by August 20th and voting to immediately start.

Voting takes 7 days. If we slip by a week we can possibly survive it.  If we slip a week after that, no Jakarta EE 8 for JakartaOne Life and CodeOne.

That would be truly embarrassing.  We can do this and prove open source and strong community saves the day.
