It actually implements HTTPS using the TLS implementation of the python
standard library.
Even but in actual deployment tipically a Flask application sits behind an
actual webserver, like nginx, that acts as a proxy and provide the HTTPS.
So it has something related to crypto inside to be able provide HTTPS directly.
Regarding the version you are right I forgot in this and in some other CQs, I
have to be more carefull and make life easier to you guys, for next CQs I will
also provide the direct URL to the release version and not just to the
repository.
