[iot-pmc] New Eclipse IoT project download page: we need your input!

Hi,

Ahead of Eclipse Neon release, we would like to rework our current Project page on the Eclipse IoT portal so that it's fresher and points to actual downloads more accurately.
The current page is available at http://iot.eclipse.org/projects and the preview of the new page is at: http://iot.eclipse.org/projects-v2

Now a few questions for you guys:
  • As the metadata is pulled [1] from the PMI, would you please make sure that the information for your project is up-to-date? That includes: logo, project description, links to your download page, etc.
  • Speaking of "download" metadata:
    • I believe that projects like Eclipse Californium and Eclipse Leshan provide mostly, if not only, Maven artifacts. Would it make sense to have the download link in the PMI to link to something like http://search.maven.org/#search%7Cga%7C1%7Corg.eclipse.leshan,  or maybe link to the latest hudson job? FWIW when one searches for the occurrence of the word "Download" on the Leshan homepage and GH landing page, there's no hit. I think this could probably be improved?
    • In general, I would be happy to hear your feedback on whether you see room for improvement (as well as homogenization) for the promotion of those "downloads" that are not necessarily directly downloaded, e.g Maven artifacts, Debian or RPM packages in upstream repositories, packages on npmjs and pypi, etc. My impression is that what Paho's done in their revamped website could be the way to go, ie. Have a "custom" download page on your website or wiki, and indicate this url as your download URL in the PMI. See https://www.eclipse.org/paho/v2/downloads.php
    • For those projects with no downloadable artifacts nor download page (yet), maybe we should just remove the "Download" button from the page?
  • Any particular feedback on the new page in general? Are we missing important information?
Thanks!
Benjamin –

[1] Not live, though, as some data is cached, so don't be surprised if you do fix some metadata for your project and do not see this reflected on the eclipse IoT download page straight away!
