FYI, Wayne and I have a call setup tomorrow with the OM2M project leaders to discuss this large code contribution. They have essentially re-developed the project based on the new OneM2M standard but the development was not done in the project repos. This is not what we expect for Eclipse projects but there were some organizational issues at LAAS, where most of the committers work.

If any one the PMC members would like to join this call, please let me know. I will report back to the PMC mailing list on the action items from the call.

quite a lot of code but you have a quite strange commit flow

It's looking like a commit coming from code developed outside the eclipse foundation (no CQ I think).

What does the mentors think? This project is working fine?

Thanks for answering my question. So they are working outside and planning to push code in a second step?
If so, yes guidance is needed.
I'll try to ping the mailing list.

Hi,
I think Krikkrit is dead? (even born dead).

I met with the project leader a few weeks ago in California, and he was quite happy with progress. So I would not jump to any conclusions. I suspect that some PMC guidance on how and where to do day-to-day development may be in order.

Ponte is also quite idle: 9 commits for a year.
Someone is in contact with those projects?

All,

Please find attached the Eclipse IoT metrics for last months.
A couple noteworthy points:
  • 4DIAC is now properly included, in particular their mailing list activity is tracked.
  • I’ve started to include the number of subscriptions to each mailing list (inc. cross projects mailing lists like iot-wg or iot-pmc). As I don’t have access to the history of those numbers, I will start plotting a trend as soon as we have enough data.

Also, as indicated yesterday, I would really like to get PMC input regarding the projects that may appear as “malfunctioning” (for lack of a better word). There could be several symptoms (lack of commits, slow activity on dev mailing list or bug tracker, …) and certainly several causes, more often than not harmless ones (e.g dev team has other priorities).

However, it’s my impression that some projects require help, so would you please go through the metrics (in particular the yearly dev activity table) to identify some of the symptoms I mentioned before so as we, as a PMC, can take actions to come back to the projects.
I hope we can use today’s call to go through the projects we/you will have identified and discuss what we’d like to do. My hope is that this will also help position the PMC as more than just a team that pre-approves CQ, and help bring more value to our projects :-)

Thanks!
