Re: [incubation] preparing images for first IP review

Images are intellectual property and so are subject to the same Eclipse IP Due Diligence Process [1] as are all forms of IP.

The short version is that if the images were created/generated by project committers, just commit them to the repository. If they are third-party content, then you need to open a CQ.

If you're not sure, open a CQ and ask the IP Team.

Hi

We are in the process of preparing our initial contribution (GEMOc project) but I have a question regarding how to handle IP for images and icons.

How do we prove the licence for the images ? how can we provide the information about their origin ? (separete file listing all images, metadata, ?)

we have many situations:
some images are generated (EMF generator for example)
some have been drawn manually (directly in gimp or photshop) or screenshot
some have been exported from svg or illustrator
(but in some cases, I not sure we have kept the original svg :-( )
some have been copied from other tool in eclipse
with sometime a manual adaptation in order to fit our need
some are reused from tools and included in the documentation (for example docbook defaut images that enhance the generated documentation)

any advice how to proceed ? a pointer to the document ?  (I've read the handbook but haven't found the information)

Thanks
Didier
