Re: [incubation] Common Build Infrastructure getting modified?

Hi,

Having worked in multiple large DevOps projects I can confirm that.
One of them even contributed quite a few things back to Hudson (at the time the biggest non-Oracle contributor) but we also used Jenkins plugins.
A few of the new fancy Jenkins 2 plugins may be tricky to use, but we also demonstrated back then you can also create decent "pipelines" with other DSLs than just Groovy, e.g. Python which was the language of choice at several clients.

Unless Eclipse Foundation got a generous Open Source plan to use Jenkins (the Open Source version, not the Enterprise commercial product) at CloudBees, I don't see its Open Source plans as viable alternative.
We tried CloudBees hosting for a couple of projects, Agorava or some JSRs. And a timeout of 2 weeks after which the session dies (and becomes a dead link) until you reactivate it is just unacceptable, especially for standards like JSRs that might be stable and working without commits for at least months in many cases.

Regards,
Werner

Hi,

I'm pretty sure that everyone with experience in administrating a Hudson
instance will have no problems dealing with Jenkins. They still have a
lot in common.

Fred
