announces release of Luna and turned into ab big troll about
Maven support in Eclipse compared to NetBeans. This discussion
succeeded to raise a few interesting points that have been
reported to m2e.
which ones ? didn't see them mentioned on the thread?
Cf my last thread on m2e-dev.
Basically, m2e doesn't and will never support every Maven Mojo.
There will always be a gap between what people can do with Maven and
what they can do with m2e. People developing plugins need to either
do it in a top state-of-art way (using BuildContext) or write a m2e
connectors. Most Maven plugin developers don't and won't do one nor
the other so their plugin won't be supported by m2e and they'll hate
Eclipse for that.
The 2 suggested points were:
* An alternative/additional background job running Maven build and
reporting Maven issues that are not already reported by Incremental
build.
* https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=439676
But these discussions would rather take place one the m2e-dev
mailing-list.
