+1. I think you nailed it on page 11 too.
I'm a "have my cake and eat it too" type of architect, so I really like it when we can do something like put in a collapsible menu like the "Plots" button.
There is a technical snag here though. The list of plots that show up in VisIt and ParaView are provided *from* VisIt and ParaView. ICE does not have a standard list of plots that is shared by all visualization engines and can't, at least at the moment, because of significant architecture differences. So, to do this, you would have to edit the actual drawing routines in org.eclipse.ice.viz.service.{visit,paraview}.
I personally rank that as a lower priority than getting the visualization perspective reworked to use the new plot editor (org.eclipse.ice.viz.service.PlotEditor) and move away from the CSV- and VisIt-specific editors it currently uses (org.eclipse.ice.viz.service.csv.CSVPlotEditor and org.eclipse.ice.viz.visit.VisitEditor).
