The wiki page - The page now says " For more
information on installing these third party dependencies, please
contact the developers at ice-dev <at> eclipse.org". We can
roll back to the previous version after the associated CQs are
approved. (For that, praise the wiki lords and their great
foresight!)
Required library - I do want to add that you do NOT need to
install HDF5 unless you want to build the native ICE IO
library. Instead, you should use the HDF Java release
http://www.hdfgroup.org/products/java/release/download.html. It
includes statically linked HDF5 libraries, so there's no need to
install two things!
Building on Mac - Alex will be sending out some instructions for
Mac in a minute. It's a little... different.

Well,
the instructions will be applicable once the CQs are
approved. In the meantime, there’s probably not a whole lot
of people out there dying to build ICE from scratch. I don’t
think we should have totally removed the information from
the page though…
The link Claire was using (
http://wiki.eclipse.org/Getting_ICE#Prerequisites )
does include sections on HDF5 and VisIt. If we can't even
mention their names, shouldn't we just remove the section
and replace it with "email the developers for more
information"?

Our current build instructions do not discuss the third
party libraries because they ate not approved yet. If that
is the problem here, other than a simple setting or
something, we need to take it off the list.

Claire,
To re-iterate Jay's question... Windows, Mac, or
Linux?
As a side note, I think the build instructions need to
be updated to include HDF Java, not HDF5. HDF5 should
only be required if you are building ICE IO. (HDF Java
includes pre-compiled versions of HDF5 for its own
use, but I'm not sure if they are statically linked.)
